I imagine there was an “Ah ha!” moment when American soldiers realized that their efforts had been sabotaged by Benedict Arnold. While Arnold displayed great valor and courage on the field of battle time and time again, his loyalty turned to bitterness as he purposely left West Point vulnerable to attack by the British, so that they may gain a strategic foothold. I imagine that the soldier who discovered Arnold’s treachery was, at first, in denial- Surely this man who was appointed to be our leader, our protector could not have purposefully structurally weakened our defenses! But he had. Likewise, I believe many people are starting to get that feeling about our “leader” now…
While talks still linger over the release of the Blind Sheik to Egyptian custody as extortion a goodwill gesture, President Obama is now releasing 55 Guantanamo Bay prisoners. Sure, why not? Catch and release of terrorists is usually the best policy for American security.
It’s bad enough that this weak-willed coward has done nothing but apologize to the Middle East for America. The State Department has recently released ads in Pakistan, scapegoating a film maker who had insulted Islam. The Obama Administration has also refused to meet with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Nentanyahu, but has partied with Jay-Z and Beyonce, gabbed with the girls on The View, and yucked it up with David Letterman.
If actions indicate priorities, then we must conclude that rubbing elbows with celebs is far higher on the list of Obama’s priorities than defending our embassies in the Middle East, stabilizing the region for American oil interests, upholding the First Amendment, standing by our one ally in the region or even holding a shred of dignity in the face of these heinous attacks.
Obama is releasing what amounts to roughly a third of the detainees at Guantanamo Bay, and while this undoubtedly warms the hearts of do-gooder liberals everywhere, it leaves America more vulnerable to attack at a time when the Middle East is destabilizing and radicalism is on the rise.
We should all be prepared for Obama to be “spiking the football” until November, as he will be hailing himself as the closer of Guantanamo and a friend to the oppressed. If only he cared half as much about the safety of this country as he did about terrorists.
Again, there must have been a point when people pieced it together and said, “Benedict Arnold could not be this stupid! It could only be sabotage!” Likewise, I find myself wondering if our Commander-In-Chief is traitorous, stupid or both. In either case, if those are our only options to explain his behavior, that means we need a new president.
