As we live in a world where public hysteria can provide President Obama a Nobel Peace Prize because he had the potential to provide peace, I suppose I should not be shocked to discover that two months prior to the election, liberals are already clamoring for Mitt Romney’s impeachment.
An “Impeach Romney” Facebook page has been created, as well as impeachromney.com. The Facebook page notes, “So he has not been elected and may not be but this is what we call a preemptive strike. Impeach Romney!!!” The author’s logic is as coherent and unassailable as his punctuation.
For those that missed government class in high school, or for those who attended public school in California, the process for impeachment is found in Article II, Section 4 of our Constitution. It reads,
“The President, Vice President and all civil Officers of the United States, shall be removed from Office on Impeachment for, and Conviction of, Treason, Bribery, or other high Crimes and Misdemeanors.”
I am not a constitutional scholar, but my understanding of the impeachment process leads me to believe that A) This process is applicable in serious circumstances and is as convoluted as firing a tenured, union, black, lesbian teacher in the Chicago school district. And B) This provision is not applicable to presidential candidates.
The irrational temper tantrum coming from the left is comical to witness. They flail about, throwing any and all accusations against the wall to see what will stick and can’t seem to commit to a coherent argument either for Obama or against Romney. The level of discourse coming from the left is incredibly disjointed and chaotic. And now, not only do we have to deal with the Occupy lunatic fringe, but we have to suffer through calls for impeachment on a candidate that has done nothing illegal and hasn’t even ascended to the presidency? They make me feel tired…
On the plus side, we could view this as one more step in the grieving process. The grieving process has five stages of grief: denial, anger, bargaining, depression and acceptance. We have witnessed the denial phase, as the left has tried to create their own reality and claim the Tea Party is in decline. When Paul Ryan, a fiscal conservative, was picked as Romney’s running mate, it seems to have jarred them into the next stage: anger. Thus, the calls for impeachment.
However, not all on the left are still fighting the realities; commie propagandist Michael Moore has stated that we should practice saying, “President Romney.”
Much to their dismay, the left can’t impeach Romney. Furthermore, such calls just illustrates the irrationality of the left and their complete unwillingness to engage in substantive discussions of how to fix this nation. The true irony of the situation is that Democrats incessantly claim that the GOP is obstructive. I can think of nothing more obstructive than preemptively demanding impeachment of a presidential candidate.
Furthermore, if the left wants to start cleaning house in Washington, try calling for an end to the stonewalling by the justice department to see the Fast and Furious documents.
